孙楚涵:多一种语言,多一个世界

作者:孙楚涵 来源:新东方国际游学 时间:2013-10-15

First of all, I want to say thank you to New Oriental for giving us a great opportunity to enjoy another culture as well as learning more about another world.
Before the plane took off, I told myself that this trip is going to be real fun. Though I am under the fantastic pressure of the High School Entrance Exam, I was determined to broaden my horizon and inscribe the fabulous experience into my mind.
Actually,I have been to America once on behalf of our school for an international symposium; It was pretty hard for a 13-year-old girl like me to discuss about the global issue. However, this trip is somehow a sort of panacea to cure my pressure and get a chance to entertain myself a little before the turning point of my life.
On the plane, I cleared my head and ask myself the purpose of my trip, one word popped up---"learning". Yes, I wanted to get to know about the history behind those architectures, I wanted to find out how another place in our global village developed so fast. Actually, I already improved myself on the plane to New York as I was fortunate enough to meet a Harvard Law School professor. We discussed about my favorite game CROSSWORD. He was pretty old, but he is also very patient. He made me feel the hospitality of the Americans and hopefully, for the next 14 days, America will be my second home.
In New York and Boston, we went to visit lots of places including the Statue of Liberty, the Wall Street, the Fifth Avenue, the Harvard University etc. The Statue of Liberty enabled me to see the strength of freedom; the Harvard University helped me to learn the real definition of the phrase --- "working hard". I admit the weather was terrible there; however, it seemed that our warmth and hope melted both the ice on the ground and the fears in our hearts.
When we were about to leave for LA, we held our hands and stepped into the airport together. We could not tolerate the sadness of leaving, we made our promises to New York and Boston, "We will be back". We knew we should be strong as it was the start of this trip.
The weather is much better in LA. Most of the time, we are searching for every bit of sun shine. But what we love most is the pitter patter of the rain. Our favorite places should be the Disney Park and the Universal Studio. We were all fond of the scene of the lovely Winnie the pooh holding a large jar of honey; we all cherished the friendship between Buss and woody in Toy story, and we all prayed for true love like all those "happily ever after" endings. We are looking forward to hearing the familiar lyrics of "Are you ready?" in SpongeBob Square Pants; we were always ready for all the exciting rides. We enjoy the pleasure of cartoons since they brought us back to childhood and also made us have better understandings of the sunny world.
We also went to school with the students there. As I was in the Senior High, I found the class quite difficult. What I saw in the American classes shocked me; most of the classes were relaxing and student-centered. It was quite difficult to point out who is the teacher and who is the student. I love the atmosphere of the classes.
I want to thank too many people during this trip. I want to thank Ms Liu and Mr. Sun for providing us with endless warm assists. Especially, I want to thank our house host Alicia and her two lovely daughters Tyler and Lauren. Remember all those nights painting our nails like real sisters, shopping in the mall like a family. Remember all the tears shed away when we left and the memories flooded away.
From this trip, I realized that language and excellent cultures of any country or people are spiritual wealth shared by the whole human kind. Thus, because of language, I had the chances to introduce our great country China to people from other places. I've already gained a big world full of friendliness and happiness.
Yes, one more language, not only did it open a window to our future, but also built a bridge to link our cultures together. By gaining knowledge, we got one more thought, one more life, one more chance and one more world. By learning, discovering and communicating, I realized that it was language that dissolved our fear, it was language that treasured our human initiative and connections, and it was language that kept our telepathy alive.
One more language, one more world, let language become the bridge of communication. One more language, one more world, let language become the tie of friendship. One more language, one more world!
